[CASIO 2023] A1100 — Retro Style and Iconic Front Buttons

CASIO digital classic enthusiasts may be intrigued by the A1100, a retro-styled watch that has been released in July. The design of the watch has an uncanny resemblance to the 52QS-14B model from the 1970s. The watch is designed with round steel buttons on the front panel, which adds to its vintage appeal.

There has not been a significant change in the look of the watch in the last fifty years, except for the fact that CASIO employs a special technique to polish the metal, giving it a “hair” texture and making the watch look like a luxury accessory. One unique aspect of the watch is the textured matte edge of the case, which makes it stand out from the rest. The round engraved buttons next to the panel add to the vintage look of the watch, and the luxuriously crafted filigree inscriptions next to the buttons give off a lavish appeal.

The watch’s steel bracelet not only makes it more stylish but also comfortable to wear. Despite the size of the watch being considered compact, its dimensions of 40×35×9.1 mm are ample. The black-colored A1100B-1 is a personal favorite, combining premium black with IP coating, making it more elegant. The green electronic display on the black watch looks exquisite, reminiscent of old PC monitors and terminals.

The A1100 module is not equipped with an array of advanced features but provides the essential features like a stopwatch, an alarm clock, an hourly signal and a calendar which contains 28 days for February, 3 bar water resistance (which is the minimum level and only protects against overall water splashes) and a battery life of three years. CASIO is yet to announce the price of the watch but anything generally priced around 80-100 US dollars would be satisfying.
