Casio Computer Co., Ltd. will release the GST-B500 in April 2022 as the newest addition to the G-SHOCK G-STEEL line, featuring a new structure that makes it thinner and lighter. The price ranges from 49,500 yen to 60,500 yen.
The new G-STEEL series, which makes extensive metal parts, changes the traditional two-body bezel structure to an integrated one. Through advanced forging, cutting, and polishing technologies, complex shapes are realized with integrally molded parts, and the use of different finishes such as hairline honing and mirror gives the watch a sense of massiveness and quality. Five different finishes are applied to a bezel. The dial is a three-dimensional structure combining two pieces, and its texture is enhanced by hairline and vapor deposition processing.
The case follows the carbon core guard structure, covering the inner modules with carbon fiber reinforced resin. The parts (connecting the case and band) are made of solid stainless steel to enhance shock resistance and connection strength. At the same time, the bezel becomes an integrated structure, resulting in a thickness of 12.8mm. Weighing 143g, it is thinner and lighter than the previous model at the same time.
The bright silver model comes with three different dials, while the all-black (black IP) and yellow gold (gold IP) models are also available. Metal parts are made of stainless steel.
The watch is solar-powered and features Bluetooth connectivity with smartphones and time correction. It also boasts Super Illuminator, a double-LED light.
The watch has world time, stopwatch, timer, time alarm, and date display functions. It is shock-resistant and water-resistant to 20 ATM. The size is 46.6 x 48.9 x 12.8 mm, and the weight is 143 g.
