[G-SHOCK 2024] GD-B500 — Rect Case, Bluetooth and Step Tracker

Casio Computer is set to launch a new series of G-SHOCK models called the “GD-B500” in April. These models feature a fresh and compact vertical design. The prices for these models range from 19,800 yen to 20,900 yen.

The new G-SHOCK series introduces a vertical rectangular design that combines functionality with a sleek appearance. It is designed to be versatile, suitable for both urban use and sports activities. The vertical shape ensures that it doesn’t interfere with the back of the hand. The case measures 46.3 mm in length, 41.5 mm in width, and 11 mm in thickness, making it compact and lightweight at just 45 g. The band length is adjustable from 145 to 200 mm, ensuring a comfortable fit for individuals with thin arms. Unlike traditional models, these watches feature a shock-resistant structure that integrates the bezel, case, and band piece. Each part serves not only as a structural component but also showcases its unique shape and color as part of the overall design. The case material is made of glass fiber reinforced resin, and the “GD-B500S” model comes with a clear color band piece in green.

The digital LCD display provides a clear view of information such as the day of the week, time, year, month, and day. Additionally, these watches are equipped with a step tracker (pedometer) that utilizes a built-in acceleration sensor to measure the number of steps taken. The achievement rate is displayed as a graph on the LCD screen, helping users track their fitness goals.

One of the key features of this series is its Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to connect their watches to smartphones. Through the “CASIO WATCHES” app, users can automatically adjust the time and customize various settings for the watch.

These watches are built with a shock-resistant construction and are water-resistant up to 20 ATM. They also offer features such as dual time display, step counting, stopwatch (1/100 seconds), timer, time alarm, and auto LED backlight functions. With dimensions of 46.3 x 41.5 x 11mm and weighing only 45g, they are designed to be compact and lightweight. The battery used is a CR2016, and it has a battery life of approximately 2 years.
