The W-800 series recently celebrated its 15th anniversary, and to mark the occasion, the Japanese company introduced new color options for the watch case. This model remains popular among fans who appreciate its large electronic display and affordable price, typically around $30.

CASIO sends a message with the W-800: “Cheap watches can still be useful and of high quality.” While it may not have the specialized shock-resistant design of a G-SHOCK, the W-800 is built to last for many years with proper care. The materials used are less expensive and not as technologically advanced as those found in other CASIO lines, but the watch will still outperform even the highest-quality Chinese replicas.

One notable feature of the W-800 is its large dial, which is divided into three separate zones. The current time occupies about half of the dial, making it easy to read. While it doesn’t have a full world time function, it does offer Dual Time, allowing the wearer to keep track of a different time zone that they have selected in advance.

The dark color options of the W-800 make it suitable for both everyday city life and more militaristic activities. The W-800H-1B model even has an inversion display, making it ideal for covert operations. However, the readability of the inversion display is not as good as a conventional LCD.

The watch’s functions are basic but practical, including a 24-hour stopwatch accurate to 1/100th of a second (with split time only), alarm, hourly alarm, calendar, 100-meter water resistance, and LED backlight. Additionally, the W-800 boasts an impressive battery life, lasting up to 10 years on a single battery. It has been available for purchase since February of this year.
