Editor’s Insight *from the casiofanmag creators, addicted to Casio watches 🙂
The G-SHOCK GR-B300 brings a bold evolution to the GRAVITYMASTER line with its large, aviation-inspired design and enhanced legibility. The Bluetooth connectivity significantly improves usability by allowing intuitive control of time settings, alarms, and the flight log feature via smartphone. Tough Solar ensures consistent power, while the Carbon Core Guard construction adds both durability and aerospace character. The unique reverse-analog timer and full-dial illumination further enhance its practicality for everyday use.
Despite modern features, the absence of a digital display limits real-time usability. The oversized case is difficult to wear under clothing, and some sub-dials are hard to read. Stopwatch and timer functions can be visually confusing, and frequent syncing may strain smartphone battery life. Overall, the model adds convenience but lacks major functional innovation over previous generations.

PROs
Aviation-Inspired Design: The GR-B300 features a fighter jet-inspired design with a Carbon Core Guard structure, providing shock resistance, rigidity, and corrosion resistance.
Tough Solar Technology: Equipped with Casio’s Tough Solar tech, the watch charges via sunlight, eliminating the need for regular battery replacements.
Bluetooth Connectivity: The watch connects to smartphones via Bluetooth, allowing for features like automatic time adjustment, flight log recording, and phone finder through the Casio Watches app.
Dual-Time Display: It offers a dual-time display, enabling users to keep track of two time zones simultaneously — a valuable feature for travelers and pilots.
Flight Log Function: Pilots can record the date, time, and location of flights, with the data viewable on a map within the connected app.
Super Illuminator LED: The watch includes a bright LED light that enhances readability in low-light conditions.
Lightweight Build: Despite its large size, the watch is relatively lightweight at 71 grams, making it comfortable for extended wear.
Distinctive Aesthetics: The watch’s design, inspired by cockpit instruments, offers a unique and appealing look for aviation enthusiasts.
Eco-Friendly Materials: Some components are made from bio-based resin, reflecting Casio’s commitment to sustainability.
CONs
Large Size: The watch’s dimensions (59 x 54.7 x 15.7 mm) may be too bulky for individuals with smaller wrists.
Limited Stopwatch Precision: The stopwatch measures in 1-second increments, lacking the finer precision (e.g., 1/20th second) found in some other models.
No Triple Sensor: Unlike some other G-SHOCK models, the GR-B300 lacks a triple sensor (altimeter, barometer, compass), which might be a drawback for outdoor enthusiasts.
Dependence on App for Some Features: Certain functionalities, like world time settings, require the smartphone app, limiting standalone usability.
Plastic Buckle: The plastic buckle feels less durable compared to metal alternatives.
Price Point: Some may find it expensive, especially considering the absence of features like the triple sensor.
Analog-Only Display: The fully analog display might not appeal to those who prefer digital or hybrid displays for quick information access.
Limited Alarm Functionality: The watch offers only one daily alarm, which might be insufficient for users needing multiple reminders

Seamless design offering functional beauty
An organic form inspired by next-generation aircraft is expressed with the seamless exterior design. A sense of unity is achieved by connecting the exterior surfaces, from the case to the band, smoothly and seamlessly. This design creates a tough, cutting-edge look, seemly for a new addition to the GRAVITYMASTER line.
3D face design for enhanced readability
The large-diameter, triple-layer dial with a sense of depth ensures readability for pilots, whose job demands intuitive reading of time. In addition to large, dimensional index marks and inset dials inspired by instrument panels, the metal bezel accentuating the large watch face ensures this design exudes functionality.

Dual time: Simultaneous display of time in two cities
The main dial and inset dial simultaneously display times in two cities located in different time zones. A dedicated app makes it easy to configure world time settings. Switching between home time and world time is a snap, as well. This watch puts accurate time management just a fingertip away.
Colouration evoking the look of a cockpit
A high-contrast black and white colour scheme enhances the visibility of the watch hands and index marks, components responsible for the most vital watch functions. Red and blue colour variations are offered as well, with the red model inspired by the display colour of a cockpit instrument panel’s nighttime illumination, and the blue, that of a head-up display (HUD). These distinctive combinations of colour deliver practical functionality expressing an aviation worldview.

Layer Guard and Carbon Core Guard structures: Featuring innovative combinations of materials
The intricately shaped bezel employs integrated moulding and has two rings — a metal ring and a urethane ring — installed beneath it. This combination of materials gives the bezel — a structural component — a refined visual presence that embodies the intricacy and sophistication of next-generation aircraft. The case is made with carbon fibre-reinforced resin, a material delivering both strength and lightness. The side buttons have anti-slip texturing inspired by hazard warning stripe tapes, and the guards beneath the buttons have been eliminated for even better operability.
Rotary disc indicator: Offering display for multiple functions
The rotary disc indicator at the 9 o’clock position uses a dual-coil motor to ensure smooth rotation. It indicates battery level and alarm on/off status, as well as displaying motion linked to each mode.

Flight log: Helpful for flight history management
Sync the watch with a smartphone and press a button on the watch to record the current time and position on a map within the dedicated app — a useful function for managing flight logs with details including times and locations of departure and arrival. In addition, plotted data can be grouped for batch management of travel record details including points of departure, transit points, and home destinations.
