The Fire Package series from Japan has been consistently updated every year since 2015, and the latest additions in 2024 are the AWG-M100FP-1A4 and GW-2320FP-1A4 models. This collection, known for its reliability and durability, holds a special place in the G-SHOCK lineup, even though it is often limited and sold exclusively in Japan.
The reason behind the name “Fire Package” has not been officially explained by CASIO, but it is believed that the company has a close collaboration with Japanese firefighters and rescue services. This connection likely inspired the symbolic name, as these watches are designed to be reliable and essential tools in extreme conditions. The collection typically includes the AWG-M100 and GW-2320 series, with some variations like GBA-800, GBD-800, and GST-B400. The main concept of the collection is functionality with a touch of the “old-school” style, including features like solar power and radio time synchronization (Multiband 6).
Interestingly, the Fire Package watches are also popular among military professionals. The compact and stealthy cases of the AWG-M100 and GW-2320 (updated GW-2310) make them suitable for tactical tasks.
The design of the Fire Package watches features bright red dial elements, symbolizing the flames that firefighters face. The rest of the case is black, including the aluminum bezel.
The AWG-M100 is known for being one of the most affordable G-SHOCK models while still offering impressive features like Tough Solar power and Multiband synchronization. On the other hand, the GW-2320 is exclusively produced as part of the Fire Package and is only available in Japan. Its functional core is similar to the AWG-M100, but the GW-2320FP-1A4 model has an updated module with LED backlighting instead of EL-illumination. This change doesn’t affect the battery life significantly, as it is solar-powered as well. However, the LED backlight provides a cooler and more pleasant illumination in the dark.
The watches come in a package made of recycled cardboard, and the manufacturer includes an army badge-shaped mold with G-SHOCK inscriptions as an additional accessory. The price for the AWG-M100FP-1A4 is $190, while the GW-2320FP-1A4 is priced at $160.
