The Ultimate Guide to All G-SHOCKs — composed by Experts
Hey everyone, exciting news – CASIO is getting ready to launch a new special edition from the OAK series under the MRG brand, and it’s going to be the top-tier G-SHOCK in terms of price. Details are still limited, but we have a few photos from Japanese insiders that give us some hints.
Yes, the watch face will be fully analog, without any electronic components. Whether this is a good or bad thing is up to personal preference. While we’re used to analog dials in the 2100 series, the MRG-B2100 represents a whole new level of watchmaking, so analog hands seem like the perfect fit for a “high end” model.
The dial has a intricate texture, which is evident in the images. How this will affect readability and the overall look will only become clear after the watch is released.
As for materials, since it’s an MRG, only top-notch ones will be used – Ti64 titanium alloy for the case and bracelet, sapphire crystal, DLC coating, and a bezel made of super-strong Cobarion alloy. Similar to the MRG-B5000, the bezel here has a multi-part structure.
Take note of the window at the 8 o’clock position, which indicates the day of the week. It seems that the MRG-B2100 won’t have a stopwatch, timer, or even a basic alarm clock. Are CASIO sacrificing these features just to highlight the luxury status of their watches? There’s no visible battery indicator, but we can expect Tough Solar technology to be present.
In addition to Bluetooth, the series will also feature Multiband 6, indicated by the “RC” on the dial.
The release is set for the second half of 2024, but specific dates or months haven’t been announced yet, so let’s stay tuned for more information.
