The Ultimate Guide to All G-SHOCKs — composed by Experts

Recently, there has been news circulating about the GST-B600, a new addition to the G-STEEL line. According to insiders, this upcoming model is expected to be the most compact in the series. We won’t have to wait too long for its release, as sales are set to begin in late February or early March. What’s more, there are already high-quality renders of the case available, which instill confidence in its design.

When the dimensions of the upcoming GST were revealed [41.4×42.3×11.4mm], it immediately brought to mind the G-Steel series. To put it in perspective, the previous generation GST-B500 is significantly larger [46.6×48.9×12.8mm], and the GST-B100 seems “gigantic” in comparison [58.1×53.8×14.1mm]. Surprisingly, the GST-B600 is even smaller than the GA-2100 [48.5×45.4×11.8mm], which is considered one of the smallest G-SHOCKs. This means that the engineers have successfully achieved a smaller size for those who prefer a more compact wristwatch. The weight of the watch is only 60g on the strap and 135g on the steel bracelet, adding to its comfortable wearability.

The case of the GST-B600 is composed of two parts — the upper part serves a decorative purpose, while the lower part provides protection. Similar to other G-Steel models, the bezel is attached with four screws. However, it is unclear if the Carbon Core Guard, seen in previous GST models, will be present in this iteration. Carbon as the inner shell material for the module has not been mentioned in any sources, so we will have to wait for the official press release for confirmation.

The dial of the GST-B600 has undergone some changes as well. The iconic mode window, along with the battery level indicator, has been removed, giving the dial a more streamlined appearance. To create a sense of depth, the designers have added a symmetrical insert in the center of the dial and retained the stepped hour markers. It’s a shame that a second hand wasn’t included in the design.

In terms of functionality, the GST-B600 remains similar to its predecessors. It boasts solar power, Bluetooth connectivity, world time, stopwatch, timer, alarm clock, calendar, dual LED backlight, and a water resistance of up to 200 meters. The price is expected to range from $300 to $350, depending on the model. The GST-B600D-1A, which comes with a steel bracelet, is anticipated to be the most expensive option.
