What I like about the ProTrek lineup is its built-in spirit of adventure. G-Shock and, as it were, were also created not for the office [although it is already doubtful], but here in the “tracks” there is its own separate highlight, philosophy, tourist image. That is why I could not get past the unique model PRW-60FC-1AER.
We usually don’t take the series that previously appeared on the blog. Well, why consider a different color if there are no other features in the watch? PRW-60FC-1AER is not like that … It’s a completely different watch: it beckons with its black color, strap and style. This is what we’ll talk about in a traditional review on the Casio fan blog.
If in the PRW-60-2AER model I was surprised at the metallic glitter on the bezel, hour markers, then today’s hero can be called the exact opposite. This is a total black model – or a “piece of coal” – as I like to describe this kind of style. Steel spraying is still present at time stamps, but it is not so noticeable anymore.
Black bezel, black background of the dial, black bracelet, inverse electronic window [when the background is dark and the numbers are transparent], even the black back cover – all this creates a premium quality product. It’s definitely not about tourism, but more about watches for every day and for different life situations, because it definitely doesn’t smell like sports [at least at first glance, while the inside is about sports].
My first contact with a real composite strap happened in the review of the GW-B5600BC-1 model [GW-B5600BC-1 – ultra-light and ultra-functional], and then I fell in love with this type of mount. Honestly, I never liked a bracelet type. I even considered it a certain element of “show-offs,” since there are 0 amenities and a lot of visibility. Do not take it seriously, the subjective opinion of one person should never be taken into account as the truth of the first instance.
So, PRW-60FC-1AER received a composite strap, which looks like a metal one, but in fact it is a urethane material with metal inserts and other polymer elements contributing to its strength and comfort of use. Such an official description and I am inclined to believe him, whereas by sight I point blank do not see any polymer or urethane [just like metal]. Only the weight of the model treacherously says the opposite – the watch is very light and does not correspond to the volume of the components [97 grams].
The fastener deserves special attention, namely its working mechanism. In general, the bracelet is quite traditional with the exception of an additional protective “loop”.
To open the bracelet, you need to press the two side buttons of the clasp, but to avoid accidental clicks there is an additional latch that must first be opened.
I tried to convey this moment in the photographs. The goal is one – to be even more reliable, because the positioning of the PRW-60 is not just tourist, but even bolder – for mountaineering.
I will not go deep into the functional part, since I considered something in the first review, and I can’t say that in PRW-60FC-1AER you will find something completely unique: a triple sensor [compass, barometer / altimeter, thermometer – everything is possible calibrate to perfect accuracy], stopwatch, timer, 5 alarms, hourly alarm, calendar, time in another time zone. Ok, I’ll also show the display of some modes in practice, where the arrows themselves took a neutral position on the display [Hand Shift function].
Display time in a different time zone (World Time)
You can calibrate each indicator using the Smart Access head. Before use, you need to unscrew it so that it “crawls out” directly (as in the photo above).

It seems nothing special, but I do not agree. This functionality can be used to the maximum in life, there would be a desire. But unlike the new-fangled smartwatch, the PRW-60FC-1AER works without the help of an outlet – the watch charges itself using Tough Solar’s solar power technology. Automatic radio synchronization with accurate time signals from six towers scattered around the world [MultiBand6 technology] is responsible for accuracy.
Sapphire crystal and Neon Illuminator illumination are another gift from the manufacturer and a sign of elite origin.
PRW-60FC-1AER cannot but admire. Thanks to such a black style, the watch is harmoniously combined in both business and sports. The model is saturated with the many traditional features of the Japanese brand and captivates fans of the conservative use of watches, rather than all kinds of “smart” devices.
