The GD‑B500 delivers a rare combo: a super-slim (11 mm), lightweight (45 g) digital G‑Shock with Bluetooth step tracking, smartphone sync, dual time, and robust stopwatch features. It’s budget-friendly (~$150) and sports-ready. But it lacks solar, GPS, and heart‑rate, uses a disposable battery, has a basic display and strap, and falls short of full smartwatch capabilities.

CONs
No solar or atomic timekeeping – Relies on CR2016 battery (~2‑year life) and Bluetooth sync only.
No built‑in GPS or heart‑rate sensor – Step data only via accelerometer; distance from phone.
Interface navigation can lag – Menus are occasionally slow or clunky .
Mineral crystal, not sapphire – Vulnerable to scratches over time.
Smaller screen, limited info at glance – Three‑tier LCD may feel cramped .
Notifications are basic – Only simple app alerts, no vibrations or advanced alerts .
Short battery life for G-Shock – Needs battery change every ~2 years.
No auto-light-off; manual operation only – Auto LED but must be activated per session.
Band quality is basic stock item – Some users find included strap simplistic.
Limited feature set vs smartwatches – Great for fitness, but lacks deep smartwatch functionality.

Enjoy Japanese Unique Features in GD-B500!

Compact rectangular form: Easy to read, easy to wear
This watch features an oblong, angular shape designed not to interfere with the back of the hand and a digital LCD with a three-tiered display layout — all in a lightweight, compact profile suited to everyday use. The band length is adjustable from 145 to 200 mm to comfortably fit even slimmer wrists. The design ensures a nice, snug fit for anyone to wear and enjoy.
New shock-resistant structure for more exterior design possibilities
The watch features a shock-resistant construction combining the bezel, case, and band connectors. Unlike conventional structures, in which the case is covered by the bezel and the band is connected directly, this approach employs each of these parts as structural components while incorporating their shapes and colours into the look of the design, as well. Glass fibre-reinforced resin is used for the case. Two types of band connectors are available: a solid, opaque type with texturing for the GD-B500, and a translucent type for the GD-B500S.

Everyday functionality tailored to lifestyle needs
A step tracker is included, adding handy functionality for daily life with an accelerometer to count steps. The watch also displays progress you’ve made toward your goal on a graph to support your active lifestyle. In addition, smartphone pairing via Bluetooth® delivers automatic time correction and makes it easy to configure various functions from the app.

A compact G-SHOCK in a boldly straight-forward design that moves style into the future. The tough digital GD-B500 goes smaller and slimmer to meet today’s needs, delivering just what you require from a watch in a minimalist design with a futuristic sensibility. With a case measuring just 46.3 mm in diameter and 11.0 mm slim, this G-SHOCK is significantly smaller than past models. Even this small, it comes equipped with Bluetooth, solar charging, and a step tracker so that you can easily take control of your daily exercise. Choose classic black or white, or go with the GD-B500S-3 in dynamic fluorescent yellow with translucent band connectors.
