The G-SHOCK Watches listed below have a 3-axis accelerometer that detects body movements and measures step count and distance traveled. This feature is great for staying fit and keeping track of your daily activities and calorie consumption. While the 3-axis accelerometer is not a GPS sensor, it is a low-energy consuming technology developed by Casio. Some watches do not have a built-in GPS, which means they cannot track distance while kayaking, biking, flying, or doing any activity that does not involve wrist/arm movement. However, some G-Shock watches have both an accelerometer and GPS. You can find information about these watches in the listings, including usage patterns. Top G-Shock Watches with built-in Pedometer and Phone GPS**
**These watches do not have built-in GPS sensors, so you’ll need to sync your phone’s GPS with an appropriate app like G-Shock Move (or other CASIO official app) and use it while running. Once synced, your running data will be displayed conveniently on the watch screen. Additionally, your phone’s GPS can automatically adjust your pedometer settings. To achieve this, you’ll need to do one run with both the phone and the watch, and the watch will learn from the phone’s GPS measured distance. After that, you can run without the phone, and the watch will track the distance quite accurately based on your movement using the step tracker algorithm.

- The step count can show a value up to 999,999 steps. If the step count exceeds 999,999, the maximum value (999,999) remains on the display.
- To prevent miscounts, the displayed count does not increase for about 10 seconds after you start walking. After you have been walking for about 10 seconds, the correct count appears, including the steps you took during the previous 10 seconds.
- The step count is reset to zero at midnight each day.
- To save power, step counting stops automatically if you take off the watch (no detectable watch movement) and you do not perform any operation for two or three minutes.
- The Step Count Graph is updated even when any one of the events below occurs.
- When the accelerometer operation is stopped to save power

You ask, we answer!
Yes, you can. You will have pace and distance data but based on your wrist measurements (in modern watches that support G-Shock Move App). GPS data will be more accurate, but more expensive as well. That may be a good solution if you do not care very much about 100% accuracy.
G-Shock GBD-H1000 Series can boast Tough Solar technology. Solar Energy is not enough to power GPS fully, but maybe enough for a Pedometer.
It provides you with almost the same data, but you also have an attractive watch on your wrist that is very tough and water-resistant. You will also have essential statistics on your phone.
