Shock-resistant structure. A hollow case structure protecting the module from external shocks, cushioning of key parts inside the module, cushioning protection from direct shocks by a unique case-and-bezel form, and an all-directional guard structure to mitigate impacts are all combined in a structure built to resist dropping shocks.

Centrifugal gravity resistance test. Watch hands that are required to move in an environment of strong centrifugal gravity are liable to rotate due to their own weight, which may cause breakage. We therefore calculated the weight balance of each hand with precision and arranged It optimally. The result is stable hand movement, even under conditions of strong gravitational pull.

Vibration-resistant structure. αGEL® (Alpha GEL)* is packed around the module as an insulator to absorb vibrations and prevent damage and malfunctions resulting from violent vibrations. Aluminum band washers and O-rings are inserted to prevent the screws that connect the band to the case from loosening due to vibrations.

Solar Power. None-Stop – A solar panel converts even weak illumination from fluorescent lighting into electric power. A rechargeable battery with a large power storage capacity supports stable operation of various functions with high electricity consumption. You never have to worry about the battery running down because it’s a solar battery. Casio watches with solar technology, receive thermal and electrical energy that recharges the watch batteries through solar panels on the face of the watch.

MultiBand 6. Terrestrial radio wave reception from 6 transmission stations worldwide. Automatic time correction available in Japan, North America, UK, Europe and China.
— Reception is possible even when surrounded by buildings.
— Signals are received during the night to keep the displayed time exact. — Reception is possible with less than normal power consumption.

Smart Access. This analog control system combines Multi Mission Drive, which assigns multiple functions to individual hands, with an electronic crown switch. World Time city selection is conducted with simple crown operation, providing quick access to the times in the world’s major cities.

Multi-motor construction. Smooth switching of the various displays is achieved by a drive mechanism including an optimized number of motors. Electronic Crown Switch. Smart Access makes it easy to operate CASIO’s multi-function watches. Simply pulling out and rotating the crown provides intuitive control over world time city selection and various other functions.

Metal moulding. The moulds employed for resin watch parts, from gears and other precision parts to novel moulded external parts, are originally fabricated at Yamagata CASIO. Besides undergoing many automated manufacturing processes, they are hand-polished to give them a precision finish.

Module manufacture. A single production line at Yamagata CASIO can handle assembly of as many as 13 types of movements, and the ability to perform speedy small-lot production of many products is among its strengths. Suitable for production of a diverse variety of watches, from watches with three hands to chronographs with multiple hands, the lines have the capacity to create an abundant lineup that enables customers to select a watch to suit their style.

Parts manufacture. Several microscopically sized rigid resin gears are installed in each movement. Minute teeth around the gears’ perimeters mesh with the teeth of other gears neither too gently nor too strongly to assure smooth movement. At Yamagata CASIO, these minute parts are made using machining technologies with 1/1000 mm precision to assure more accurate gear movement.

Quality assurance. Conducting everything from mould design and production to parts moulding, circuit board mounting and assembly in a highly integrated production system, Yamagata CASIO achieves high-quality product manufacturing. An inspection system making free use of leading-edge sensing technologies to conduct precision examinations of parts quality by sensor is implemented in every process. Only products that satisfy strict standards are sent out into the world.

Tough Movement. Tough Solar, Multiband 6, Auto Hand Home Position Correction and Hybrid Mount Construction. These four technologies combine in a radio-controlled, solar-powered analogue movement that elevates the reliability of solar-powered, radio-controlled analog watches to new heights.

Feedback from Users *accumulated information from our own comments and emails, forum threads, socials, reviews, etc.

PROs
+ it’s a very elegant piece of engineering and a credit to CASIO watchmakers and engineers
+ it’s good value for money in view of the materials used and the craftsmanship that has gone into it
+ it is very light for a big watch just about 50 mm across the face/case but it wears well and does not feel like I have strapped an alarm clock on my wrist!
+ nice looking even as a dress watch

CONs
– tiny digital lcd features without EL
– the light is disappointing for a several thousand euro/dollar watch

Radio-controlled Watch; Multi band 6 (additional way for time sync. This watch receives time calibration radio signals that keep the displayed time accurate)
Smart Access (the system for analogue movements achieves multi-functionality and easy operability simultaneously through a combination of multiple motors and an electronic crown)
Tough Movement (A CASIO-original thin analog movement made possible by hybrid mounting protects against damage and enables auto home position correction that helps keep you on time all the time)
Clad Guard Structure (This structure incorporates the crown and buttons, and guard parts that protect them into a single unit for improved shock resistance. This structure also eliminates parts required in previous designs, for a slimmer, more elegant case)
