Exclusive images leaked on the popular reddit forum reveal a glimpse of the upcoming GCW-B5000, a highly anticipated new addition to G-SHOCK’s lineup. Celebrating the brand’s 40th anniversary, this model will feature a carbon fiber construction, setting it apart from its predecessors. While the new module, 3543, promises similar functionality to the GWM series, the Japanese designers have once again managed to astound with their choice of materials.

If the leaked screenshots are accurate, the GCW-B5000 will introduce a revolutionary full carbon monocoque body, a design previously seen in the GWR-B1000 and GWF-A1000 models. This will be the first square-shaped G-SHOCK to boast such a construction. The bezel and bracelet will be crafted from solid forged carbon fiber, each exhibiting a unique carbon fiber texture.

The bracelet’s clasp will be made of multi-layer carbon fiber, while the inner case will be constructed from carbon-reinforced rubber. This innovative approach combines three different types of carbon materials within a single body, showcasing the engineers’ ingenuity.

Titanium will be used for the buttons and the inner bezel “ring,” with the buttons receiving a durable DLC coating and the ring featuring an IP coating. This ensures that the buttons remain scratch-resistant, adding to the overall durability of the timepiece.

Thanks to the one-piece design, the case back seamlessly merges with the bezel and case, reducing the number of vulnerable spots and enhancing the watch’s resilience. Moreover, this construction significantly reduces the weight of the watch, providing a comfortable wearing experience.

Currently, two models are in development: the sleek black GCW-B5000UN-1 and the striking purple GCW-B5000UN-6. The initial price tag in the United States is set at $2000, but it is expected to increase due to the inclusion of sapphire crystal. As with many G-SHOCK models, the GCW-B5000 will be exclusively produced in Japan, further emphasizing its premium status.

In terms of functionality, the GCW-B5000 borrows from the popular GMW-B5000 series. It will incorporate Bluetooth connectivity, solar power technology, Multiband 6 for accurate timekeeping, world time functionality, a stopwatch, a timer, an alarm clock, a calendar, an LED backlight, and an impressive water resistance of up to 200 meters. Additionally, the watch will be magnetic resistant, ensuring reliable performance in various environments. The case dimensions measure 49.1 x 45.0 x 14.5 mm, making it a comfortable fit for most wrists.

The release and start of sales for the highly anticipated GCW-B5000 are expected to take place in December. Fans and enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting this comprehensive upgrade to the G-SHOCK lineup. Stay tuned for further updates and announcements regarding the official release date and availability of the GCW-B5000.
