The Ultimate Guide to All G-SHOCKs — composed by Experts

Guys, we are thrilled to announce the launch of a brand new section on our blog, dedicated to “Software Updates.” While it may seem like an unexpected choice for a CASIO watch, we believe that embracing change is crucial in a competitive market. Without the influence of Polar, Garmin, and other smart gadgets, Japanese watchmakers would have continued producing traditional timepieces without exploring new possibilities.

Today, we want to share the exciting advancements in our GBD-H2000 and DW-H5600 models. Additionally, we have a sneak peek into the GPR-H1000, which is currently not available for purchase. These watches feature the remarkable MIP display, offering limitless programming options to suit your preferences and desires. With each new update, your watch will receive a refreshing upgrade, breathing new life into its functionality.

Let us tell you about new features in GBD-H2000 and DW-H5600. And the GPR-H1000 (although it’s not on sale yet).

Update #1. Hourly time signal

Absolutely! This is an absolute game-changer. Despite being a seemingly basic feature, it was overlooked in a watch equipped with an MIP display. We even mentioned it in our review of the GBD-H2000 as a minor drawback, but that is no longer the case. The hourly alarm truly helps in establishing a sense of time’s rhythm, and we personally always make sure to enable this function on my CASIO watches. It’s a small yet significant enhancement that adds to the overall experience.

Update #1. Silent mode

By activating the vibration mode on your watch, you can enjoy a silent experience without any alarm notifications. It’s worth noting that the hourly alarm won’t function in this mode, and instead, the watch will solely vibrate. Additionally, in this mode, the backlight will not activate automatically for incoming alerts or button presses, ensuring a more discreet usage. This innovative update brings a fresh dimension to your watch’s functionality.

Update #3. Backlight Duration

While the function itself is not entirely new, it has received a significant update. Now, you have the flexibility to set the backlight duration for multiple conditions simultaneously, ranging from 1.5 to 5 seconds. These conditions include backlight activation upon button press, automatic activation when tilting your wrist, and backlighting in the notification operation mode. This improvement allows for a more personalized and convenient experience, as you can customize the backlight settings to suit your preferences across various scenarios.

Update #4. GPS signal reception progress indicator [relevant for GBD-H2000 and GPR-H1000 only]

In the past, the absence of these informative “dots” left users guessing about the status of their watches. However, now you can enjoy a clearer understanding of what’s happening. In addition, it’s been reported that the Japanese have made enhancements to the GPS signal reception speed, addressing a previous challenge where it could take up to a minute to establish a connection. If any readers own a GBD-H2000, please share your experience after the update.

The ongoing software improvements by the Japanese are truly commendable and something to look forward to. We eagerly await future updates and advancements!
