New features in GBD-100 *in comparison with previous series
The first MIP Round G-SHOCK (after GPR-B1000) which is not very big (58.2 × 49.3 × 17 mm)
The first MIP Round G-SHOCK with a reasonable price (not very expensive)
The first MIP Round G-SHOCK with many Sport Features
The first MIP Round G-SHOCK that can be used for Running
What we like in GBD-100 *by casiofanmag editors with 10+ years of experience writing about CASIO watches
Amazing G-SHOCK Look in a sporty watch (differs significantly from Polar, Garmin, and alike)
Excellent readability (very distinct numbers even in the shadow)
Phone GPS can be used for critical Running measurements and similar sports activities (sync your watch via Bluetooth with a dedicated CASIO app and may monitor distance, speed, pace, and other calculated values)
Power-efficient accelerometer (apart from GPS, you can use another way, less accurate but more power-efficient, of tracking your steps, distance, pace, speed, etc.)
Timer for interval measurement (up to five-time settings) with auto-repeat feature (suitable for functional workouts and similar sports)
Vibrator feature for notifications (vibrates to alert wearer of indicating time elapsed and calories burned during training, as well as to indicate receipt of Bluetooth®-connected smartphone calls, emails, and SNS messages.)
Step Count Measurement (via energy-efficient 3-axis acceleration sensor). You can monitor your daily/weekly/monthly/6-month activity status by changing the screens in the watch.
Push-friendly buttons (very convenient to use them)
Amazing MIP screen adjustments (you can choose different screens with different data to be used as default)
Calories consumption monitoring
Comfortable size and thickness as for a sports watch (58.2 × 49.3 × 17 mm VS traditional 48.9 × 42.8 × 13.4 mm in DW-5600)
Super Illuminator Light (a high-brightness LED that automatically lights up in the dark when the wearer’s arm is tilted)
Smartphone Link/App Connectivity Features (for time sync and watch adjustments)
What we don’t like in GBD-100 *by casiofanmag editors with 10+ years of experience writing about CASIO watches
No Solar Power and No Solar Assisted charging (only two years, but it is a good duration for such a functional watch, and the battery can be easily replaced manually)
No in-built GPS (you can either use Phone GPS or an in-built accelerometer)
No in-built Heart Rate Sensor
MIP display functions have fewer dynamics in comparison with traditional TN-LCD or STN-LCD (slower refresh rates, no milliseconds)
It looks like the G-SHOCK MOVE APP will be outdated soon
No hourly signal (a simple feature, but we haven’t found it)

About the Watch in short. Casio sports watches go to the next level. Yes, this is not a complete set of features like the flagship GBD-H1000, but the GBD-100 has something to boast about [except for the price]. Not all runners need a heart rate monitor with its specific capabilities, in fact, someone will just need a regular pedometer, interval timer and Bluetooth for convenient visualization of activity results – the GBD-100 has all this. Pleased with the presence of the same digital display MIP – electronic panel “pixel” type with high contrast. In practice, this type of display contains more information [indicators, charts] and can display not only the data that has been pre-programmed for it [speech about notifications from a smartphone]. Yes, there are also notifications [incoming calls, SMS, e-mail, calendar, reminder] and this is very cool, in our opinion. The vibro function is also present.

Official Casio Description. These are the latest additions to the G-SQUAD lineup of sports watches from G-SHOCK, now with Bluetooth® capabilities that allow continuous connection with a smartphone.
These watches can link with the GPS of a smartphone for quicker calibration of distance measurements, enabling more accurate running distance measurements, even during use without a phone connection.
Distance measurements used in combination with the stopwatch let you keep track of your running pace, and also enable use of an Auto Lap feature that automatically keeps track of times over a specific distance.
Other standard features include a step tracker (pedometer), interval timers (up to 20 sets of five timers each), lap time measurement (up to 140 records for up to 100 runs), and calories burned measurement, all of which provide plenty of support for your daily training. Also, new phone apps are now available to help you configure watch settings more easily and manage your workouts. In addition to Life Log and Activity History apps, you can automatically create a training plan based on targets specified by you.
